Pelican Ski Shop Will Give HMC Blood Donors A Special Gift

During the winter months many of us are not thinking about the blood
supply at our local hospital. We all assume that when we need it, it
will be there.   Seventy percent of the blood used for patients at
Hunterdon Medical Center comes from donors in the community.   Pelican
Ski & Snowboard Shop in Whitehouse Station recognizes the importance of
donating blood and would like to give a gift to individuals who donate
blood at Hunterdon Medical Center during the month of January.

If an individual donates blood at Hunterdon Medical Center between
January 1st to January 31st he or she will receive a donation letter
from the hospital to present to Pelican Ski & Snowboard Shop in
Whitehouse Station.  The blood donor can present the letter to Pelican
and receive a free daily ski and snowboard rental for any day of the
season.

To be eligible to donate blood a person must be at least 17 years of
age, be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.  “We are looking
for donors of all blood types,” stated Cathy Conroy, Blood Donor
Recruiter at the Hunterdon Medical Center.  Conroy said, “Our donors
are all special people who give blood only to help others in need.  It
isn’t everyday you can save someone’s life.  Most of us can give
this gift and keep giving it, regularly.”
